Minecraft Madness

Lego was fun as a kid right, the ability to build endless creations and become an unstoppable child with the powers of imagination. We all used Lego at some point right or at least some sort of toy to create and build what our minds made. The developers of the massive sandbox world of a cubes, Minecraft must have played with Lego right? After all, Mojangs Minecraft offers endless opportunities for its players. Is this how the cubed world has run gamers into madness spending hours and hours building and adventuring ? Not only that they throw a wonderful element of survival into the mix. The perfect balance some would argue. what do you guys think ?

The best way to dive into a world as well rounded, well perhaps well cubed such as Minecraft and find out just what it is driving people mad is to talk to a player of Minecraft itself. Mr. Joshua Armour to kick off the interview I simply asked.

When did you start playing Minecraft and what intrigued you to start playing ?

Mr. Armour replied and this is what he said.

I Roughly started playing in 2014, and I wanted to play it because id heard my friends at school talking about it and it sounded interesting I also played a demo and loved the idea

A lot of Minecraft players would quite possibly say the same as when it was released and YouTube had taken hold of it, Minecraft was on everyone’s minds and certainly everyone’s PC. Schools were breeding grounds for Minecraft Madness and inspired many to delve into its cubed world. The next question I had lined up for Mr. Armour was to try and get his opinion on the Minecraft madness.

Why do you think Minecraft has seen such a huge success over the years ?

This is what Mr. Armour had to say.

I think Minecraft is hugely successful because it offers two forms of game play in vanilla and an extra form for those on PC willing to play with Mods. The first of its kind a huge sandbox game that also functions as a survival game but is light on the mechanics meaning almost any age group can get into it it also arose during the grow of YouTube so it got plenty of advertising from people building their careers of it.

Mr. Armour brought up some great points here.

(for those who dont know what he means by vanilla he means the original, plain game)

Minecraft started off without too much to it build and survive. Making sure you dont get blown up by creepers (as seen above), sticks of dynamite with legs and the zombies and skeletons not to mention the spiders. Now over time however people took to making mods for minecraft to add millions of possibilities, changing the game forever. free roam sandbox game is definitely true to get an idea of what it would look like look at the picture below.

many would agree the simplicity of the game is one of its strong points and how every game can be slightly different due to the creations a player can do. The only limit being your imagination. However some have argued that this makes the game boring.

What do you think ?

For my next question I wanted to hone into the last part of what Mr. Armour had said about YouTube, as Minecraft did indeed kickstart a lot of Youtubers careers and took the social media world by storm. However this was true for other games too. To get an idea of what he thought I asked.

Do you think that YouTube has been a massive influence on Minecrafts success, could this be the same for other games too ?

This is what Mr. Armour thought.

YouTube absolutely influenced its success and I think it can influence the success of other games too, for me this occurred with Overwatch in 2016 YouTube is no longer the only advertising platform Twitch is another big service that can bring the knowledge of certain games to people

The next question I had for Mr. Armour was back to the subject of Minecraft Madness. This question however was focusing on the resurface of interest in Minecraft as after its initial release other games made their way into the gaming scene and took from its overall amount of gamers. However there was a sudden spike in interest as Youtubers collectively played minecraft again bringing back the nostalgia, along with great times through cubed worlds once more. To get a clearer understanding as why this could have happened I asked this.

Why was there a sudden spike in interest in the game years after its release in your opinion ?

This is what Mr. Armour replied.

In my opinion the spike in interest was the combination of Youtubers playing it and the solid game mechanics themselves that combined to a good experience this meant people were always talking about it and each update added loads of new stuff that get people excited to jump back in.

Youtubers and a sweet game system I would agree draws in most gamers for certain and for Minecraft the Madness had returned. Not to mention the constant updates keeping minecraft as current as possible to add extra appeal. Like a cubed cherry on top of an equally cubed cake. The last question I had on my mind was that surely Minecraft couldn’t always stay popular, and that other games would definitely challenge Minecraft for its gamers attention right? In turn this is the question I posed towards Mr. Armour

Do you think that Minecraft will ever become unpopular in your opinion ?

This is what Mr. Armour stated.

I honestly don’t think Minecraft will become unpopular any time soon even without mods I find myself coming back every few months because of a craving to scratch a creative itch or enjoy a face value survival game challenging myself to make large builds with only the resources I can gather genuinely. Games like rust or other survival simulations often over complicate their systems the simplicity of only having to worry about food and health makes the experience much simpler to manage updates keep things fresh often enough and are introducing new game mechanics PC use of mods will keep things interesting too also by introducing new game mechanics.

The Minecraft Madness clearly is deep set in many of us and doesn’t look like its disappearing anytime soon. It will always have a lure it will just be down to gamers to get caught up in it again. Endless possibilities frequent updates ever expanding the Minecraft world whilst still remaining as simplistic as ever. Truly a wonderful creation . Do you agree that Minecraft has that special place in your hearts like it does in my own and Mr. Armours ? Do you think anything different to what we have explored over today ? if so let me know your opinions, get in touch let me know.

For now never shy away from delving into the cubed world and explore the chests of awesomeness that Minecraft has to offer and never let the fun end.
