All Gamers enrolled the Call Of Duty: Why?

Call of duty the war gamers have been fighting since its initial release in 2003 seventeen years later and it is still the major competitive FPS on everyone’s minds and in everyone’s hearts. The call for duty from Call of Duty reached near enough everyone and I want to know why what about you? How can a game such as this forever change the FPS world for all future games to come ? All I can say is thank you Activision for providing the gaming world with an absolute gem with solid story and multiplayer gaming. To see it from the players perspective I talked to a man who has been playing it since he could pick up a controller, Mr. Jacob Sheppard. My first question to Mr. Sheppard was a simple question.

what drew you into playing the call of duty games?

This is what Mr. Sheppard replied.

Initially Call of duty had a very compelling story and not a lot in terms of multiplayer as the online community hadn’t really been around for the first few games. This game was revolutionary an FPS game to rival all others and bring the FPS world into its own. Then as the Call of Duty series continued more and more drew you in. The online PVP, player vs. player game modes was a huge attraction as proving your skills off to others and playing with your friends was and still is a big deal for gamers. Then zombies was released. This was also massive for an FPS game. Compelling story Amazing characters and graphically pleasing. Not to mention the controls were easy to pickup and there were great game mechanics. That and everyone was talking about it, so I picked it up and couldn’t put it down ever since.

Call of duty, War, Gaming, FPS, Shooter, Activision

Great story, good graphics, compelling characters and easy controls. A Gamers heaven, alongside a community of people surrounding you who just could not stop talking about it made this game very hard to ignore just as Mr. Sheppard has said. I certainly found Call of Duty a wonderful experience and growing up with the game certainly created a bond that is probably going to last forever. Seeing it progress and grow certainly added a lot of attention and growth in the community with more and more playing it every game release. What do you guys think? Do you have a bond with this game? The next question that I posed towards Mr. Sheppard was more about the game in general.

Why do you think that call of duty was a huge success?

This is what Mr. Sheppard relayed.

They clearly released the game at a time when there was a hole to be filled within the gaming community. A need for a first person gun fight. Jumping on this general feeling Call of Duty was born. They have managed to stay top dog of the FPS world as they have been active for years and established good brand reputation early so that future games would have to work that much harder to compete against them. Alongside that to stay current within the harsh world of games they always gave the players something new to look forward to. especially through the device of game-modes. This allowed for players of all skill sets to enjoy them and diversified the online community. Another reason they managed to stay as successful as they did was because of the amount of people who picked this game up became professional at it and released videos on trick-shots and generally good game-play. Platforms such as YouTube massively influenced the gaming scene and kept it relevant and therefore successful.

Social media Platforms such as YouTube certainly kept attention on Call of Duty however I too feel that it was Activisions power to give the players something to really look forward to. Activisions ability to adapt and give the players what they wanted and break new ground time and time again brought Call of duty into its top place as the FPS champion for a long time . However there certainly were games that rivalled Call of duty such as Battlegrounds. The graphics of the guns and surroundings really sold the immersion for the players as well this was definitely a huge bonus for the success of Call of duty. The next question I had for our Call of Duty fan was about the many concerns that came with the release of Call of Duty. The concerns were that as this was a particularly violent game what with it being about war and the graphics clearly showed the shooting and getting shot. There were concerns that this game would make people believe that they could pick up a gun go shoot loads of people get shot then think they could re-spawn like in the game but also that it would make gun violence seem fun. So the question I asked Mr. Sheppard was.

do you agree with the Theories and media suggesting that games such as call of duty cause Violence and other negative impacts upon its players ?

Mr Sheppard answer was short and straight to the point .

No its down to the person not the games they play

I have to agree with Mr. Sheppard here, it certainly is not the game but the player. There has to be some want to already be violent inside your head for you to allow such a game to unlock a negative part of your brain like that. Well that is what I believe, what are your thoughts about this? Should we be more concerned with games that could cause violence such as this? Another game that raised such concerns was GTA, Grand Theft Auto. After this I wanted to revert back to Call of Duty itself exploring whether Activision had taken it too far and gone on for too long.

Do you feel that the call of duty franchise has made too many games and has now become old and samey ? if not why ?

This is what Mr. Sheppard said.

I did a few years back when they kept releasing similar sequels without adding anything new for the online game-modes, However I still found the story really cool. Yet My feelings have changed as recently the cod series has now changed up to match nowadays games. They have even released a new genre style of game. Battle Royale. This was so that Smartphones and smaller technological devices could challenge and rival games such as Fortnite and PUBG. This is great as that means Call of duty has branched into something different, which once again shows Activision’s great adaptation and ability to change or remain fresh with the changes of gamers interests.

Activision have always been on top of what is popular and what is not so it would make sense that Call of Duty hit the nail on the head with every release. The repetitiveness could be seen and felt by most gamers who indulged themselves with these games however. Yet this did not stop us from buying and playing the next release for the story was so rich and compelling every story-line was thrilling and the exploration of new maps certainly excited me. I wonder what your favourite maps were on Call of Duty. Or what CoD was your favourite, some argue World at War others Black ops for the zombies. For me it was always the modern warfare trilogy but before those definitely the first few games had me story wise, immersed at every part. Wrapping up my line of questioning on Mr. Sheppard I wanted to know one last thing. Where will Call of Duty be heading next?

What do you personally feel is the future for Call of Duty and first person shooter games ?

This was the last answer Mr. Sheppard gave.

Advanced Virtual reality. That is what all the games are being released with recently. I expect the future will bring a better designed VR Call of Duty. This truly would change the VR FPS gaming scene. Perhaps even transcend it into something that will bring back the Call of Duty franchise and see the return of those who have been following it on its journey and love it still. I do think that if Call of Duty and Activision do not act quick enough when the technology allows another FPS will take the lead into this new territory and then it would be very interesting to see how they would rival Activision and Call of Duty. But yeah Advanced virtual reality is where games are heading next.

Call of Duty it is clear to see still has a place in the gaming community and in our hearts. Huge success has always followed the franchise and success will surely follow it into the near future. Activision may be planning something as you read this, VR seems to be the future of the gaming world if they manage to create technology for you to be able to run around in Call of Duty and become the soldier in the game then that will be mind blowing. Where do you think the future is headed? What will the future of Call of Duty be? Is there a rival to Call of Duty that has overtaken the FPS giant. Let me know through email.

But for now have fun my gun toting soldier gamers shoot on and keep fighting the good fight of CoD. But also hold onto your helmets something big is definitely over the horizon.
